Pascale is starting to spell

Another smart child going through a "sensitive period"

Today, in a cafe in Balmain, Pascale saw us write Priscilla's name on a loyalty card. So she wanted a card too, and asked us to write her name on it.

but....

she spelt her name out CORRECTLY - P A S C A (long wait while she thought a bit) L E
Yay!

Later on Pascale noticed the label on her lunch bag and spelt the letters out - S M A S H
Eureka!
She said "There are 2 S's !!"

We need to encourage her to keep this up. For a while now she has been recognising any A, C or P letters around (since these are directly related to her family's names) and UTS (where Chris works).

She knows all the letters of the alphabet thanks to a fridge magnet toy (and enthusiastic older sister).

She can count to 10 (and maybe more, not sure at this stage).

She is also pretending to read books - she memorises the story and tells us it (though her word recognition is, well, guesswork).

She is fascinated with writing - but her physical skills need improving. She can write A and M, but will soon pick up P at this rate :-)

Finally, she is asking us to spell words for us - office, park , school

wow.
