Sense of her own self

Observed at today's pick up from childcare that Pascale can concentrate well on her tasks away from home as well. She used the cogs and extension pieces to firstly make a Thomas tank engine including funnel and 4 wheels, then a helicopter. No longer cries at drop off, esp if Maddie is there. They run off together and Pascale says to parent:" I'm not going to cry! Bye!"

At Montessori PTP too, Pascale is doing the right sequence of things. Most surprising is her recent interest in cleaning up after making pasta! Chris reported detailed scrubbing of the bowl in the washing sink, and sweeping up the fallen flour etc. She has done the clothes scrubbing board for a while, and also table cleaning. Memo to self: provide opportunity at home for her to do these things.

During bath time Pascale regularly uses a sponge to wash the wall tiles and bath walls, then a squeegee to clean a la PTP. This in turn gets Abigail to try washing up too.

Most importantly, tonight she said during dinner that she needed to go to the toilet. Priscilla hurried her off to the bathroom, and as she reached it she said "I can do it myself, you go." So parent waited outside and child did all the pulling down of skirt and taking off the nappy and sitting on potty. Soon, "I did a wee!" then "oh, wet my skirt", "mum!" Pascale had wiped herself with toilet paper, put it into the potty and was ready to tip contents into (closed) adult toilet. Priscilla hurriedly opening the lid, saying to Pascale to do this first before picking up the potty, then Pascale disposed of the potty contents herself. PP put clean nappy on and Pascale ran to report to family still at dining table. We have hope yet for toilet training to start...
