Got to Union childcare relatively early, around 930am. Cold wind but sunshine for the outdoor sand play. Pascale saw Abi and Lorien having morning tea at their table, so she sat herself onto one of the chairs at the nursery food table and waited. Luckily Le fetched some fruit pieces and water for Pascale from the kitchen and these were munched happily. Then Priscilla tried to get Pascale to walk to the sand pit where the other children were playing. Pascale clung on and whinged. She was picked up and taken there, but protested at being put onto the ground at Priscilla's feet: "no!"
Mel, Pascale's favourite carer, arrived to start her shift but Pascale still shook her head and said "no!" After a breastfeed Pascale was less clingy and wandered about pushing a toy car and climbing onto the timber seating around the brick planters (!) Priscilla was determined to leave so gave her to Mel despite protest and cries, and headed for the door.
Upon returning to pick up Pascale in the evening, she immediately saw her mother and reached out without crying for once. Apparently she had a good day esp being outdoors. Priscilla requested from Mel some gross motor foam toys for Pascale to climb on next time she was at childcare. All the while Pascale was being held on her mum's hip but protesting "nai nai!" Finally after a breastfeed Pascale was happy. Went with Priscilla to pick up Abi from her playground (making chocolate cupcakes in the sand pit) and quickly reached the car. Pascale fell asleep on the way home (only had one nap at 11am, getting tired at pick up time). Woke after half an hour without too much unhappiness and allowed herself to be taken from the dark car to dinner table. Early bedtime after food and wash.
