Digger outside our house

For the past few days there has been jack hammering and digging on the property diagonally across the road, as plumbers excavated and laid pipe. Today they were cutting a trench to join up with the sewer on our side of the road. Pascale had just woken from a car nap and was inside ready for lunch, or so her mother thought! She heard the noise from outside and walked to the front door screen to take a look, then signalled that she wanted to go outside. Once she was on the footpath where she could see the digger in action, Pascale clutched onto the folded up Dora umbrella and watched intently for about 5 minutes as the men used jackhammer and shovel to remove bitumen and dirt. All the while cars would occasionally drive by adding to the excitement. Pascale had lunch about 45 minutes after her usual time.
