For the past month or so, Pascale has changed her nightly sleep routine from one of breast feed then roll over onto her side in bed ready for sleep, to staring at the adult and wriggling for about half an hour while in bed before either sleeping or starting to cry. Patting may calm her, but once it stops she resumes wriggling. Sometime she will be still, pretending to sleep, but once the side of the cot is raised Pascale lifts her head and starts crying.
This change preceded her parents' decision to wean Pascale of night feeds. It didn't make a difference to the disturbed settling process.
During the night, Pascale often wakes around 11pm-1am (the old breastfeed time) and has to be patted to sleep, or held for up to 2 hours. Sometimes around 5am, when it is cold and her room heater mysteriously is asleep too, Pascale may wake crying probably due to being cold. It takes up to an hour to resettle her after wrapping in a blanket. Then she will sleep until 730-800am.
