Scooter

A new three wheeled scooter was purchased for both sisters to share, to learn to ride and then to see if a second scooter was wanted. This was the Mini Micro, a swiss design with relatively stable ride and a brake. Abigail went with Priscilla to buy it from "Ollie and Ooshi" a trendy kiddie stuff shop on Norton St. Leichhardt.

Anyway that afternoon Pascale returned from childcare and was delighted to find the scooter in her home. She immediately agreed to putting on a helmet and shoes, then in the dusk light went up and down Lamb St pavement supervised by Chris. They went all the way up to the top of Lamb St hill.

By the time Priscilla went to call them for dinner, Pascale had figured out how to pedal and bob up and down. She also could stand on the scooter and coast for a few seconds.

The next morning after dropping Abigail at school we went to Mort Bay Park, where Pascale had seen other children playing with scooters at Mia Azzi's party a few days prior. She specifically asked to go to "Mia Azzi's playground". There on the flat paths (some gravelled) Pascale refined her pedalling technique. She also found other ways to push/pull the scooter and tried using it on various surfaces: grass, gravel and concrete.

On the next weekend, Abigail wanted to use the scooter too. She and Pascale alternated and both seemed quite pleased with this new toy. Pity about the wooden "Tike" balance bike that the parents bought without consulting either of them - not interested.
